Springtime is a great time of year if you are a sports fan. It's even a better time if you are a fan of sports video games. You have your pick of several different professional sports leagues going on at the same time and all at different stages of their season. Whether it's baseball, soccer, basketball, MMA, hockey and of course your dad's favorite pastime, golf. With so many sports video game titles to choose from by just as many publishers, your good friends at MTV Clutch went to "work" to pick out the best video game in each sport. We figured that this is a good time of year to stop killing demon vampires, open the windows and give your thumbs something else to stay active with. So for those of you who would rather make free throws from your couch or eat sausage links rather than play on them, sit back and check out the titles we liked the best for the spring season.

'Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13'

Say what you will about Tiger Woods, but not even a sex scandal, loss of major endorsements or slumping career can deter the master-putter from releasing a new and improved version of his namesake video game. The latest release has some noticeable improvements over previous years: in-game support for both Microsoft's Kinect and PlayStation's Move devices, Tiger Legacy mode which allows the user to play as Tiger from the early years up until present day, 14 detailed golf courses and 22 licensed golf pros. We think that "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13" is worth the effort to pick up and play. Maybe Tiger should pick up a copy himself as it seems he could use the extra practice.

'MLB 2K12'

For all of you who have played past versions of "MLB2K," let us save you some time by mentioning that the game hasn't really changed too much. Where "MLB 2K12" stands out is with its improved gameplay features. They include updated player graphics, detailed ball parks and the ability for batters to get wise to lazy pitchers who throw the same junk too often. The play-by-play commentary has been updated to be less Bob Uker and more like ESPN Radio. Another feature we liked is the open challenge to anyone who can pitch a perfect game. If you do it, you stand to win a million-dollar prize. Think about that the next time someone tells you playing video games is a waste of time.

'NHL 12'

With the NHL season coming to a close and fans still hoping their team makes get to the post season, just remember that if they lose, you can still keep the dream of kissing the Stanley Cup alive by picking up EA Sports "NHL 12." Building on the already solid gameplay, new features included improved player graphics, realistic body checking, better defensive AI positions and even the ability for goalies to throw down!

'Pro-Evolution Soccer 12'

Konami’s latest release of "Pro-Evolution Soccer" makes a solid good effort to spread the word of futbol to American. It's a fast game that shows off new and improved features such as an improved active AI engine that makes gameplay more realistic, on-field duels that mimic Off-Broadway acting, better passing and ball control (enough said) and more responsive crowd reactions to game plays.

'NBA 2k12'

Already one of the most realistic b-ball games on shelves, some new features put "NBA 2K12" over the edge: play as a current player, legend or build your own NBA rookie; accurate arena graphics, colorful game commentary and crowd response makes you break a sweat from your easy chair. The soundtrack is updated with songs from Eminem, Travis Barker (featuring Yelawolf, Twista, Busta Rhymes and Lil Jon) and Chiddy Bang. All we that is needed is the ability to sit next your favorite celeb and yell at the players court-side.

'UFC Undisputed 3'

Tough guys, check your ego at the Iron Gate and enter the Octagon. In THQ's "UFC Undisputed 3," get ready to mix it up with some of the world's best MMA fighters. The game kicks it up a notch by adding features such as PRIDE fighter mode, new camera angles, customized cage entrances, Octagon Girls and punishing new moves like head stomps and ground knees to the head. Best of all, "Undisputed 3" has a roster that pits legends such as Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz against newbies such as John Jones. True UFC fans won't get bored of this title any time soon.
